Duties of the District Chair

The Chair is the "manager" of the district. Typically the officer with the most experience in district leadership, your main responsibility is to keep everyone on track and on schedule so the work of the district is accomplished smoothly. The chair also has specific duties that are outlined in PMA's By-laws. The duties of the district chair generally include:

  • Calling for and presiding at district meetings throughout the year;
  • Establishing programs and setting meeting dates—with consideration given to the prevention of conflicting dates with other contiguous districts and with PMA events, and to programs that may be suggested by the national office;
  • Taking such actions as appear reasonable to promote and maintain membership among companies in the district; and
  • Recommending to the district's Director programs or requests of members that require Board of Directors' consideration.

As Chair, you play a key role in your district's success and future. Close contact with PMA staff ensures that the district and Association serve member needs.
