2nd Annual Spring Car Show

On May 22 the PMA New England District sponsored its 2nd Annual Spring Car Show, hosted by member company Larson Tool and Stamping Co., Attleboro, MA. The event benefited the American Diabetes Association in memory of Rich Morse, owner of RPM Speed in Attleboro, MA. Rich, who was a huge supporter of our first show held in May 2009, died in July 2009 after returning from a drag race event. It seemed fitting that we put this year’s show in his name as well as donating to the charity of his family’s choice.
Many of Rich’s friends responded and told us to expect a big crowd. We were not disappointed. Nearly 80 cars entered the show and the event was a huge success. Entrants came from as far away as Connecticut, New York and Maine. Trophies were awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place as well as Best Paint, Most Modified, Most Original and Kids’ Choice. This year’s Kids Choice was renamed the Kevin James Memorial Trophy and was donated by the father of the leukemia victim we memorialized last year. Like last year, judging was done by popular vote. Cars were entered on a donation basis and entrants as well as spectators and vendors gave generously. All told, $1,150 was raised for the American Diabetes Association.
We had a perfect late spring day. The efforts of the PMA board and many volunteers made the event run very smoothly. The show has gained a reputation for being a friendly, relaxed event and many attendees told us they are already looking forward to next year’s show.
