PMA’s West Michigan District is pleased to be hosting its 8th Annual Executive Roundtable event on Friday, November 30, 2012. New to the event this year is a keynote speaker that will perfectly match the theme of this year’s event. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jay Baron with the CAR (Center for Automotive Research) Group will be our keynote speaker. Jay leads the manufacturing, engineering and technology groups at CAR. Among his many assignments, Jay has extensively researched the competitive evaluation of technologies involving advanced lightweight material processing and business case assessments. He has co-authored a publication on fuel economy technologies and provides ongoing assistance to many manufacturers regionwide.
Consistent with this year’s theme, Jay will review specific details of the fuel economy ruling and pertinent studies that identify new fuel economy technologies and light-weighting strategies to achieve 54.5 mpg. The expected demands for new engineering, tooling and fabrication technologies could be the next big plateau for Michigan’s well-regarded supply base. Feedback from the domestic auto makers about new materials and the corresponding supply chain that will be needed also will be discussed so that individual companies can look for opportunities that fit their businesses.
This presentation will be interactive and allow for dialogue and Q&A. While we recognize this topic is automotive focused, the lightweight applications and changing engineering landscape seem to be a consistent expectation by all metalforming customers. We believe Jay’s presentation will spur thought and application to all metalformers.
The second half of our time together will offer a perfect opportunity to discuss and brainstorm other related topics that are front and center to metalformers. In past sessions, participants have discussed a wide range of topics, from personnel and talent development to pricing, quality and navigating the regulatory environment. This session will be facilitated by Rich Antonini, who leads Plante & Moran’s manufacturing practice in West Michigan.
Attendees will benefit from:
•Exchanging views, experiences and ideas with peer industry leaders
•Discussions on the business conditions and environments surrounding the metalforming industry that impact your company
•Establishing valuable relationships with local West Michigan metalformers
•Learning more about the positive impact PMA is having on the metalforming industry
PMA recognizes the competitive landscape metalformers face and the value and benefits when industry leaders come together.
We are confident you will find this event informational and timely and encourage you to attend.
