CLEVELAND, OH—May 8, 2009—The Precision Metalforming Association, the American Welding Society, the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers announced today that their show in Mexico, scheduled for June 2-4, 2009 in Monterrey, Mexico, will continue as planned.

The Mexican government announced that business is back to normal after closing much of the country for the holiday weekend, through May 5. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that the H1N1 virus, which is treatable with existing drugs, appears less severe than seasonal flu in most cases.*

“We are hosting a press conference on Thursday, May 14, in conjunction with the government of Nuevo Leon, to reiterate the President’s message that Mexico is open for business, and the daily routine is returning to normal,” states Chuck Cross, show manager for the combined event. “Our event has a $10 million (U.S. dollar) economic impact on this region. The Mexican government, as well as the business community, has given us their unqualified support. Their representatives have stated that they will work in conjunction with our associations and the media to ensure a successful event!”

More than 7000 attendees are expected to visit this event. With the added exposure and support of key government officials, “We may attract an even larger crowd,” states Cross. The 2009 event is truly an international event, with exhibitors participating from the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Argentina and China. METALFORM Mexico alternates each year between Mexico City and Monterrey, effectively covering the entire Mexican metalforming market. The show is sponsored by the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), the full-service trade association representing the $91-billion metalforming industry of North America, and co-organized by Trade Show Consulting (TSC), which has been producing shows in Mexico since 1992.
