Speakers
Omar Nashashibi, Founding Partner, The Franklin Partnership, LLP
A Divided Congress, Trade Wars, and the 2020 Campaigns: An Update from Washington
As Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats continue to battle with President Trump, tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum remain in place as the trade war with China, the EU, Canada, and Mexico create uncertainty for manufacturers and the economy. This is your opportunity to hear directly from PMA's Washington, D.C. lobbyist, Omar S. Nashashibi, about the latest information on tariffs, trade negotiations, regulations and workforce training. The actions by our federal government have a direct impact on your business and recognizing the threats and opportunities created by politicians is critical. Especially with the 2020 race for the White House already underway, you don't want to miss hearing from a Washington insider without any spin about what really is happening in our nation's capital.
Omar S. Nashashibi is a founding partner with The Franklin Partnership, the bipartisan lobbying firm based in Washington, D.C. that represents PMA in our nation’s capital. Having represented manufacturing associations in Washington since 2002, he is an expert on trade policy and tariffs, taxes, regulatory compliance, job training, and supply chain risk analysis. Omar has more than 20 years of experience working with policymakers, politicians and the media. He lobbies the White House, members of Congress and government agencies who issue thousands of new laws and regulations each year. Before founding his own firm in 2005, Omar worked for the Office of Management and Budget, part of the White House, and a large multi-state law firm. Omar graduated from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he studied Political Science and International Affairs.
Caleb Frostman, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development
Governor Tony Evers appointed Caleb Frostman as Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on January 7, 2019. Prior to his appointment, he served as Senator of Wisconsin's 1st District, representing Door and Kewaunee counties as well as parts of Brown, Outagamie, Calumet and Manitowoc counties. He previously served as Executive Director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation and worked in commercial real estate finance for nearly a decade.
Secretary Frostman grew up in Green Bay and graduated from the UW-Madison Business School. His past civic involvement includes serving on the Bay Area Workforce Development Board, the boards of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Door County Visitor Bureau, Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and Sunshine House, and the Advisory Council of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Door County.
