For the first time since 2020, we held our stamping and lubrication conference in-person! It was also the first time having the conference in Cincinnati. We welcomed more than 150 professionals who took part in networking, keynote presentations and educational sessions, and visited with many leading industry suppliers.
The evening before the conference kicked off, participants enjoyed an early arrivals meet-and-greet, where they sampled some great local great beer, networked and earned bragging rights as the best cornhole players.
Day One
The conference kicked off with a keynote presentation from Laurie Harbour who spoke on the opportunities and challenges the industry is facing. Laurie touched on supply-chain disruptions, the raw material crisis, talent shortages and more while providing a forecast of what to expect in 2022 and beyond.
Following Laurie, Jeff Jeffery and Troy Denu of IRMCO discussed how the Cup Draw Test can be used as a great screening tool before spending valuable resources on the shop-floor. The last general session of the day was presented by Hyunok Kim of EWI, who covered the importance of lubrication on producing high-quality stamping parts and how to predict the effects of lubrication.
The day ended with multiple breakout sessions on stamping and lubrication and a networking reception to view the exhibits.
Day Two
Danny Schaeffler started day two of the conference with recent advances in high-strengths steel. Danny highlighted the latest release of the Advanced High Strength Steel Application Guidelines from WorldAutoSteel and showcased best practices and lessons learned.
After Danny, we again went to our breakout sessions for the rest of the conference.
We had a great time in Cincinnati, and it was fantastic being back in-person to learn about the latest developments in stamping and lubrication. Dates and location for the 2023 conference will be available soon!
