The PMA Southeast District is excited to host an event on Thursday, August 26, at Hi-Wire Brewing in Asheville, NC.
Learn from Lean Specialist Gwyn Thompson as he presents on the topic of lean manufacturing. After the presentation, enjoy a beverage tasting and a meet-and-greet to sample and learn about several craft beers brewed by one of Hi-Wire’s own brewers!

SPEAKER
Gwyn Thompson, Engineering Manager
Gwyn has worked in the automotive industry since 1992 and is currently assisting in upstate South Carolina with the continued development of the automotive sector in the Southeast.
Since 1997, Gwyn has been involved in greenfield launches of projects and programs and brownfield redevelopments within the automotive industry.
Arriving from Liverpool, England to the United States in fall 2008, Gwyn’s mission was to facilitate the development of manufacturing systems within a Tier One supplier and expand the knowledge and application of the manufacturing system throughout its seven manufacturing sites.
A resident of upstate South Carolina since 2009 and a U.S. citizen since 2018, Gwyn earned diplomas in Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Electrical Light Vehicle Systems.
Speaking on the topic of lean manufacturing, Gwyn will cover some limited aspects of the subject:
- The buzz words: People use them but what is the aim of lean?
- Do we feel like ‘herding sheep?’
- The ‘House of Cards’ or the ‘House of Quality’
- Delivering quality: How to build quality with the basics
