PMA Southern New England: Die Design and Estimating with SOLIDWORKS-based Logopress software

next event

Wednesday, March 23, 2022
Plainville, CT

EVENT DETAILS

Please join us at Craft Kitchen Plainville on March 23 for this presentation by Ray Proeber, president of Accurate Die Design Software, Inc.

Ray will focus on how die design and estimating software has brought a great deal of automation to the field, thereby speeding the processes and eliminating mistakes. As anyone who has looked for an experienced die designer to hire lately knows, there are practically no experienced die designers to be found that are looking for work. This means that we need tools that allow us to train the next generation of die designers and train them much faster than the previous generation was “trained.”

From accurately flattening parts in a matter of seconds that you need to estimate, even when they are coming from other CAD systems that you don’t have, to trying out and debugging the finished die on the computer screen—before any material to build the die has even been ordered yet—a great deal has changed for the better.

About Ray Proeber and Accurate Die Design Software, Inc.

https://ebusiness.pma.org/CustomerImages/76424889.profile.png?11:10:26 AMStarting in 1977, Ray spent 15 years working on the bench as a die maker. He then spent eight years managing the tooling department of a metal stamping company before starting Accurate Die Design, Inc. in 2001 as a contract design firm with three die designers. The company was eventually renamed to Accurate Die Design Software, Inc. and today its five employees are 100% dedicated to die design and simulation software sales, training and support. Over the past 17 years Ray has written several articles for MetalForming magazine, Stamping Journal, and other publications.

Having designed dies in both 2D and 3D CAD, with and without die design add-ons, and also on the drawing board, Ray has a unique perspective on the industry and on the state of die design and die designers today.

Logopress was founded in France in 1989 by four shareholders specifically to develop die design software. The four shareholders included a company that was an OEM producer of press room and die supplies, a tool and die company owner, a die design firm owner, and a young engineer with a science degree in micro-mechanical, robotics and CAD. For the past 33 years Logopress has been nearly 100% focused on software for flattening, die design, and simulation.
