Safety Tip: Preparing for an OSHA Inspection

This month, Ron Pitcher, president of Pitcher Insurance Agency, offers up advice on how to prepare your metal forming company for an OSHA inspection, including best practices for conducting the walk-around with the compliance safety and health officer, conduct the opening and closing conferences, and react to citations. 

“Remember, OSHA area directors want to reach a settlement,” writes Pitcher. “Their main goal is to ensure that you rectify the identified hazards and attain compliance. If you do not reach a settlement conference, then decide whether you should pay the fine or contest it. There may be a reduction in the penalty if the inspection went well.”
