William “Jacob” Henderson is a freshman engineering major at Tennessee Tech University with a strong academic and extracurricular background. A 2024 graduate of Springfield High School, Jacob earned a 4.0 GPA while taking advanced coursework, including 12 credits of dual enrollment and AP classes. He was an active member of the National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club, and the Technology Student Association. He also completed a high school program of study in engineering, which laid a solid foundation for his continued education in the field.
Jacob brings seven years of experience in the VEX Robotics program, where he served as team captain and led his team to win the 2024 Tennessee State Robotics Championship. He is currently a member of the Autonomous Robotics Club (ARC) at Tennessee Tech. His involvement in robotics helped him gain deep knowledge of the engineering design process, including designing, building, coding and driving competitive robots.In addition to his academic and club achievements, Jacob holds certifications in OSHA safety, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), and Microsoft Office. These credentials have equipped him with practical skills that will benefit him in the engineering workforce.
Receiving the PMAEF and Tennessee District scholarship has helped ease the financial burden on Jacob’s single-parent household and has supported his continued academic and professional growth.
