Jackson Yerbich plans to use his engineering degree to build a career in the manufacturing industry, with the ultimate goal of becoming a plant manager. He values the technical and business aspects of engineering, and his education is equipping him with the skills necessary to excel in both areas. Jackson hopes to begin his career in quality engineering or design engineering, using those roles as steppingstones toward leadership positions.
Throughout his academic career, Jackson has earned several notable achievements. He currently serves as Vice President of the SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) chapter at his university, where he helps organize events and support ongoing research projects. He is also a member of the Formula SAE team, a competitive student group that designs and builds a Formula One-style vehicle to compete annually in Michigan. Jackson contributes across many areas of the team, including electrical work, cost analysis, design and construction.
Another major accomplishment is his participation in the Grand Challenge Scholars Program, a prestigious academic track that emphasizes global problem-solving and interdisciplinary learning. Before transferring to his current university, Jackson earned an associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology from Nashville State Community College. While there, he competed in SkillsUSA, specifically in the Urban Search and Rescue competition, where his team was tasked with designing a robot to retrieve ordnances through complex challenges. His team proudly took first place in the state.
Jackson is excited to continue developing his skills and believes this scholarship has provided meaningful support as he works toward his long-term goals in manufacturing leadership.Congratulations, Jackson. Good luck with your future plans!
