Braddyn Seiferd, a scholarship recipient from the Mid-Atlantic District, discovered his passion for welding during his sophomore year of high school when he enrolled in welding courses through his school’s career center. What began as an opportunity to explore a skilled trade quickly developed into a clear career path. Through these courses, Braddyn gained experience in a wide variety of welding processes, including Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Welding Technology. He also took machining classes to develop complementary manufacturing skills that will support his future career goals.

Throughout high school, Braddyn demonstrated a commitment to advancing his technical abilities and expanding his expertise. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning his 3G Flux-Cored Welding Certification during his junior year. This achievement reflects the dedication and effort he has invested in developing his welding skills. Braddyn’s goal is to continue earning additional certifications throughout his education and career so that he can become as skilled and versatile as possible within the welding profession.

The satisfaction and sense of accomplishment Braddyn experiences through welding inspired him to continue his education beyond high school. He plans to attend the Pennsylvania College of Technology, where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering. He recognizes that welding engineering is a demanding field of study that requires both technical knowledge and determination. However, he welcomes the challenge and is committed to putting in the effort necessary to succeed. He believes that perseverance and continual practice are essential to mastery and has made it a personal goal to continually improve in everything he does.

After completing his degree, Braddyn hopes to build a stable and rewarding career within the welding and manufacturing industry. He is particularly interested in working for a government-related welding or manufacturing company where he can apply his skills and contribute to important projects. His long-term objective is to establish himself as a highly skilled welding professional while continuing to grow his technical knowledge and industry experience.

In addition to his academic and technical achievements, Braddyn has developed valuable workplace skills through nearly two years of employment at Weis Markets, where he works as a grocery stocker. Through this role, he has gained experience in customer service, teamwork, task management and workplace responsibility. His employment experience has reinforced the values of hard work, dependability and dedication, qualities that will continue to benefit him throughout his welding career.

Braddyn is known by those around him as a hardworking and determined individual who is willing to put in the effort necessary to achieve his goals. He approaches school and work with a strong sense of responsibility and consistently strives to improve himself. His commitment to hard work, continuous learning and professional growth reflects the qualities that contribute to success in the manufacturing and welding industries.

With a strong technical foundation, a clear vision for the future and a determination to excel in his chosen profession, Braddyn is well positioned to succeed in welding engineering and make meaningful contributions to the manufacturing industry.
