Cody Roberts, a scholarship recipient from the Lone Star District, is completing a degree in Welding Technology. His interest in manufacturing and welding developed from a desire to build a career in a hands-on, skill-driven field where precision, problem-solving and craftsmanship have a direct impact on real-world applications. Through welding, Cody has found an opportunity to combine technical knowledge with practical experience, and he takes pride in producing high-quality work that meets industry standards.

Throughout his education, Cody has developed a strong interest in pipe welding, combination welding, fabrication and structural steel welding. He enjoys working with a variety of welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). His commitment to mastering multiple welding methods has allowed him to become a versatile and adaptable welder, capable of working in a wide range of manufacturing and construction environments. Cody recognizes that this flexibility is essential in today’s evolving manufacturing industry and continually strives to strengthen his skills in each area.

Cody’s career goal is to build a successful future as a skilled welder in industrial or structural settings where quality, safety and efficiency are critical. He is particularly interested in environments that demand precision workmanship and strong technical expertise. As he gains experience, he hopes to advance into specialized pipe welding or fabrication positions that will allow him to further develop his capabilities and take on greater responsibilities.

Looking toward the future, Cody aspires to pursue leadership opportunities and potentially move into welding inspection or supervisory roles. He understands the importance of lifelong learning and is committed to continuing his professional development through additional certifications, advanced training and hands-on experience.
