Southern New England District Acme Wire Plant Tour and Lunch

Please join us for a new plant tour of Acme Wire Products Company, Inc. The tour will begin with a brief introduction followed by a plant tour. Following the tour, a lunch will be served at the Steak Loft Restaurant in Mystic.
The tour is limited to the “first (30) registrants” with a maximum of (2) people per company. Please note: “No Open Toed Shoes” will be allowed in the manufacturing areas. The host company will strictly enforce this policy.
Acme Wire Products Co., Inc. was founded in 1970 in Norwich, CT and moved to its present location in Mystic, CT in 1979. The company is owned and run by second generation sibling team of Edward Planeta, Jr., Michael Planeta and Mary Planeta Fitzgerald. The company provides custom wire components and fabricated parts using steel and stainless steel wire from .062” to .500” diameter. Capabilities include cutting, bending, threading, 2D and 3D CNC forming, resistance spot welding, ARC welding, robotic welding, and automated grid welding systems.
Specialized tooling is designed and built in-house. Additionally, Acme Wire has sheet metal stamping and forming capabilities as well as a powder coat finishing line. Acme Wires’ components vary from wire forms, levers, handles, hooks, frames, baskets, guards, grids, supports and cable managements hardware. Acme Wire’s customers are found in diverse markets which include safety, sporting goods, hospital and laboratory equipment, food processing and food service equipment, material handling, furniture, premises wiring and the original equipment manufacturing market.

Directions: From Waterbury- Take I-84 E To I-691 N to EXIT 1A to I-95 N. Then take EXIT 22-22 S, merge on CT-9 S. Continue 29 mi. and merge LEFT onto I-95 N toward New London/Prov. Take EXIT 90 (Mystic Seaport) At end, turn RIGHT onto RT-1 N.Take1st LEFT (Broadway Ext.).Turn LEFT in front of Hoxie Fire House. Go over RR Tracks and Acme will be on LEFT. From Hartford: Take I-95N to exit 90 (Mystic Seaport). At end turn RIGHT onto RT-27 to end. At intersect turn RIGHT onto RT-1. Take First LEFT onto Broadway Extension. Turn LEFT in front of Hoxie Firehouse. Go over RR tracks. Acme will be on LEFT. NOTE: Parking is past bldg. & H2O tower. Take LEFT onto Stratford St. Park behind building.
