The PMA Tennessee District has planned a day of tech sessions, a plant tour of Stamtec, an engaging women in metalforming panel discussion and networking! Attend one session, multiple sessions or all sessions for one low price.

Session 1 - Press Maintenance & Safety Seminar

  • How to maximize uptime, even with less than perfect machinery
  • The Theory of the Box
  • Safe metal stamping press operations
  • A full understanding of the design and use of metal stamping presses
  • Efficient and practical preventive maintenance inspection procedures

Session 2 - Science of Forming Seminar

  • The importance of the press
  • What is a servo drive press
  • Sheet metal basics
    • Tensile, yield, elongation, N value, R values, strain rate sensitivity, strain distribution
  • Drawing verses stretching
    •  Drawing ratios, radii, spring-back control, metal flow control, solving wrinkles and splits
  • Friction control
    • Lube behavior
  • Metal cutting
    • Burr control, using servo to reduce snap thru tonnage, clearance selection, slug control, fine blanking
