Nashashibi with PMA’s lobbying firm in Washington, D.C., The Franklin Partnership, will provide an update on the latest developments on government activities and strategies to use when facing uncertainty surrounding trade and tariffs, supply line stability, expired tax provisions and new regulatory activity. Manufacturing costs continue to increase and the government is trying to help, sometimes successfully, but more often not. Omar will lend his insight into what CFOs should expect from Washington the rest of 2022 and into next year.

Lee Bissmeyer, Managing Director, Principal Financial Network
Lee Lee Bissmeyer has more than 32 years of experience at Principal in various capacities as an employee, financial professional and manager. Lee’s designations include Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®); Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). During his time with Principal, Lee has applied his expertise in IT programming, corporate auditing, compensation design, sales operations, new advisor development and national market growth.

Lee’s immediate family has a rich tradition of manufacturing jobs. His grandfather was a cooper for a distillery, his father managed a truck plant, brother is a project manager for an auto manufacturer and sister is a global director for a technology, glass and ceramics manufacturing company.

Laurie Harbour, President & CEO, Harbour Results Inc.
Laurie Laurie Harbour is president and CEO of Harbour Results Inc., a trusted advisor to the North American manufacturing industry. She utilizes her experience and data to monitor, research and analyze the manufacturing value stream, identifying strengths and weaknesses, gaps and risks, and business and operational opportunities to help the industry transform to be more successful in the global marketplace. Prior to joining Harbour Results, Laurie founded Harbour-Felax Group and was vice president and company officer at Harbour Consulting. She was responsible for development and management of The Harbour Report, the landmark study of labor efficiency for automotive OEMs. Laurie earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in Operations Management and Human Resources. Also, in 2020, Laurie was named to the inaugural class of the Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

Karen Kiewski, Managing Partner, Client Services, Systems X
Karen Karen has been assisting companies to achieve better business results through the alignment of IT tools and services with business goals for more than 20 years. She became a CMMC-AB Registered Practitioner in 2021 as part of the Department of Defense’s initiative to secure the nation’s supply chain. Karen’s focus on cybersecurity solutions for both commercial and defense-focused companies ensures that they are well equipped to face the ever-changing security landscape.

Omar Nashashibi, Partner, The Franklin Partnership, LLC
Omar Omar Nashashibi is a founding partner of The Franklin Partnership, LLP, the bipartisan Washington, D.C.-based government relations firm that represents PMA’s interests before Congress and the Administration.

Omar has more than 20 years of experience working with policymakers, politicians and the media. Prior to The Franklin Partnership, Omar worked for the Office of Management and Budget. Earlier in his career, he served as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Accuracy, promoting policy to the media. In 1995, he began his career in Washington, D.C. covering congressional and agency hearings for a nationwide nonprofit publication.

Steve Patterson, Executive VP & CFO, Trans-Matic Mfg. Co., Inc.
Steve Steve Patterson is the executive vice president and chief financial officer at Trans-Matic. In this role he heads up the accounting, finance, human resources, information technology and procurement departments. He joined Trans-Matic in 2014 with more than 30 years of experience, primarily with privately held manufacturing companies. His experiences include facility start-ups and mergers and acquisitions, and cross a variety of economic sectors, such as automotive components, food processing, plumbing products, construction fixtures, and industrial heat treating. Steve is a lifelong Michigan resident, having graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts in accounting. He also earned a master’s in business administration from Spring Arbor University. Steve is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Michigan.

Rubens Perdomo, President, Systems X
Rubens Rubens Perdomo has 25 years of industry experience, having been directly involved with the evolving impact that technology has had on the manufacturing industry, as well as the transformative effect technology has on how business decisions are being made on a daily basis. He has served as CIO and Executive Director of IT for large automotive suppliers throughout the United States and across the globe. Mr. Perdomo has established himself as a business-focused, technical and results-driven professional. He has demonstrated success in developing and integrating technologies to support a broad range of operating, financial and organizational needs within global organizations. He is adept at crisis management, troubleshooting, problem solving and negotiating. Throughout his professional career in the manufacturing industry, he has displayed extensive experience in aligning IT processes and architecture with business models. Mr. Perdomo's service and performance have allowed him to become a valued member of senior executive teams, contributing a broad-based perspective to create pragmatic IT strategies and implementation plans designed for maximum returns at the lowest possible costs.

David Klotz, President, Precision Metalforming Association
David David Klotz became president of PMA in February 2019. Prior to that, he was president and executive vice president of sales and marketing for Tebis America, a developer of CAD and CAM software for the tool, die and mold manufacturing industries. He also previously served as senior manager of the Plex Automotive & Industrial Mid-Market sales team for eight years, and was a manager at Dallas Industries, Inc., for 12 years.
